Pitch Night for “The Governor” movie

The guests trickled in and eventually packed the gallery on August 13, 2022 as Valerie Vibar presented her vision for a movie about the story of Governor Jesus Bautista during World War II in Santa Cruz Laguna.

Valerie Vibar insisted that her movie be as authentically Filipino.

Valeria gave a compelling reason why Governor Bautista’s role in saving his city from total destruction in the hands of the Japanese invaders. People from the movie industry (Directors, cinematographers, writers, producers, etc.) were present and the room was abuzz with movie chatter. Filipino cuisine filled everyone’s appetite. A plea was given for investors and for leads to fund this $30 million trajectory.

Don’t let the empty chairs fool you. The room was filled up later in the evening. Many had to travel long distance. Some came 50 miles away.

The second half of the presentation was vocal renditions by Valerie herself. The 3 stand-up comedians took turns bringing the house down with laughter. They were really good. You should have been there. It was an incredible night.

Camille Aragon joked about the pressure from her Filipino parents.
John Liu said that being a Chinese Filipino American and having a weight problem isn’t easy.
It’s cool to be a techie Filipino comedian like Kris Rubio. You can create cool music on the fly, meet lots of friends and be hip at the same time.
